The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved an automatic ticket for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as its sole candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

The decision was taken during a State Working Committee meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja on Thursday, where members unanimously endorsed the earlier approval granted by the State Chairman, Muhammed Gambo.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Gambo commended Akpoti-Uduaghan’s performance and influence within both the Senate and the party structure.

“She has continued to make the party proud through purposeful representation. Beyond her legislative duties, her impact in Kogi Central through empowerment programmes and infrastructure development has been outstanding,” he said.

The endorsement follows the senator’s recent declaration of her intention to seek re-election, a move she said was driven by sustained consultations and pressure from constituents across the five local government areas in Kogi Central.

Party endorsement and loyalty

The committee also affirmed Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan’s leadership role within the PDP in Kogi State, citing her sustained financial and structural support for the party.

Party officials highlighted her contributions to grassroots development, including the construction of schools and markets, housing support initiatives, and skills acquisition programmes across the district.

The PDP declared her the unanimous choice for the 2027 Kogi Central senatorial contest, pledging continued loyalty and backing.
