A prominent grassroots mobiliser associated with the Obidient Movement, Serah Ibrahim, has endorsed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.
Ms Ibrahim made her position known on Wednesday during the unveiling of the Allied Peoples Movement’s presidential manifesto in Abuja, where she introduced Governor Makinde and described him as the “most outstanding Nigerian on the ballot”.
Her appearance at the event attracted attention because of her longstanding association with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for whom she mobilised support during the 2023 general election.
Ibrahim involved in Makinde’s manifesto
Ms Ibrahim also disclosed that she participated in developing Governor Makinde’s policy document, tagged the Reset Agenda.
In a post on her X account, she described her involvement in the process as both a privilege and a responsibility, while encouraging Nigerians to read the manifesto and share their views.
She identified its four key pillars as the economy, security, education and governance.
The manifesto was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday as Governor Makinde formally presented his policy proposals ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
No formal announcement of departure from Obidient Movement
Although Ms Ibrahim’s public endorsement is being viewed as support for Governor Makinde’s presidential ambition, she has not publicly announced that she is leaving the Obidient Movement.
She has been associated with Mr Obi’s political activities since the 2023 presidential election and played a role in grassroots mobilisation for the former Anambra State governor.
Mr Obi had previously dismissed speculation about a disagreement between them, describing Ms Ibrahim as his daughter.
“No, Serah is my daughter. How will a father fight with his daughter? Everybody you see around me are my children, and I love and care for all of them,” he said.
