The Action Grassroots Alliance has inaugurated its executive council across all 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas in Lagos State, declaring support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos APC governorship hopeful Obafemi Hamzat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony, held in Ikeja, Lagos, drew members and supporters from across the state, with the group positioning itself as a grassroots mobilisation platform focused on political participation and development.

Speaking at the event, Director-General of the alliance, Selewa Adegbenro, described the exercise as a major step in strengthening grassroots political engagement.

Mrs Adegbenro said the newly inaugurated executives would provide leadership within their communities and help drive the objectives of the organisation.

“Today is a defining moment in the history of TAG Alliance. We are not just appointing leaders; we are building a formidable grassroots movement dedicated to service, development and political participation,” she said.

Grassroots mobilisation strategy

Mrs Adegbenro stated that the alliance consists of civil servants, entrepreneurs, market men and women, professionals, youths, and community stakeholders committed to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.

She urged the executives to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, unity, and commitment, stressing the importance of visible impact across wards, communities, and local government areas.

According to her, the alliance aims to strengthen political participation while expanding its reach across the state.

Public endorsement for 2027

The group also used the occasion to publicly endorse President Tinubu’s second-term ambition and express support for Mr Hamzat’s political aspirations in Lagos.

Mrs Adegbenro said the organisation believes in the leadership style and vision of both leaders and remains committed to mobilising support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Media Director of the group, Ziggy Ibeh, said the turnout reflected growing enthusiasm among members.

Mr Ibeh noted that participants showed readiness to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections.

Attendees described the gathering as a demonstration of political solidarity and pledged to strengthen the alliance’s presence across Lagos State’s 57 councils as preparations continue toward the 2027 polls.
