Hoodlums have vandalised the Kogi head office of the Social Democratic Party located on Paparanda Roundabout in Lokoja, the State capital.
VOP News gathered that the party’s secretariat was vandalised and some materials burnt down this morning with no report of death.
The SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Sam Abenemi who confirmed the incident to newsmen today in Lokoja, described the act as “wicked, shocking and uncalled for”.
He expressed shock and worry over the dimension electioneering campaign for Nov. 11 governorship election in the state.
He further alleged that the evil and wicked act is aimed at scaring the SDP from taking part in the governorship election, but the party will not be deterred.
He urged the people of Kogi state to ensure they participate fully during the forthcoming gubernatorial election, to decide who they want to govern, and not for anyone to force an unpopular person on them.
He also appealed to security operatives to investigate the heinous act and ensure the perpetrators were brought to book.
The Kogi Police Command’s Spokesman, SP Williams Ovye-Aya confirmed the incident but said no arrest had been made as investigations are still ongoing.
