2027: “One ADC, One Campaign” — Malami mobilises 600 in Kebbi

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has inaugurated a 600-member campaign council of the African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State, urging members to embrace unity, reconciliation and issue-based politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mr Malami, who is the ADC governorship candidate in Kebbi State, inaugurated the council on Wednesday and charged its members to build a strong grassroots campaign structure capable of mobilising support across the state’s 21 local government areas.

Malami unveils “One ADC, One Campaign”

Mr Malami said the inauguration was more than the appointment of campaign officials, describing it as the beginning of a coordinated effort to take the party’s message to communities, wards and polling units across Kebbi.

He said the council was deliberately constituted to reflect the diversity of the state, with members drawn from different communities, local government areas and senatorial districts.

“This campaign council represents our collective ADC campaign. It is not about one candidate or one elective position. From the governorship to the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, we must work as one political family,” Mr Malami said.

He also acknowledged the party’s senatorial candidates, including Gen. Aminu Bande (retd.) for Kebbi Central, Garba Maidoki for Kebbi South and Chiroman Kabi, Alhaji Mera, for Kebbi North, alongside other National and State Assembly candidates.

Calls for reconciliation and unity

Mr Malami urged members to avoid tribalism, sectionalism and personal rivalry, warning that internal divisions could weaken the party’s chances ahead of the elections.

He called for grievances to be addressed through reconciliation and dialogue.

“Where there are disagreements, let us reconcile. Where there are grievances, let us listen. Where there is suspicion, let us rebuild trust. Our diversity must become our strength,” he said.

He introduced the campaign theme, “One ADC, One Campaign,” and urged candidates and supporters to place the collective interest of the party above individual ambitions.

“Different candidates, one ADC. Different communities, one Kebbi State. Different responsibilities, one common purpose,” Mr Malami declared.

Malami warns against hate speech

The former minister also cautioned campaign council members against inflammatory rhetoric, hate speech, ethnic insults and attacks on political opponents.

He stressed that political competition should not destroy relationships among communities, noting that political actors would continue to live together after the elections.

“After the elections, we will still worship together, attend the same markets, celebrate together, mourn together and raise our children together. No political ambition is worth destroying those bonds,” he said.

600 members tasked with grassroots mobilisation

Mr Malami described the appointments as a call to service rather than a reward, tasking the more than 600 members to mobilise supporters, reconcile aggrieved members and communicate the ADC’s programmes to voters.

He urged members to return to their respective communities as ambassadors and bridge-builders, saying the success of the campaign would depend largely on their ability to work together and maintain discipline.

The inauguration comes as political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Kebbi expected to witness increased political activity across the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly contests.

Mr Malami said the inauguration marked a new phase of mobilisation for the ADC in Kebbi and urged members to remain focused on the party’s message and the interests of the people.

“We choose unity over division. We choose cooperation over rivalry. We choose reconciliation over bitterness. We choose respect over insults. We choose service over personal interest,” he said.

He added: “Let us rise above our differences. Let us rise above tribalism and sectionalism. Let us arise together in service to our people. And together, let us make Kebbi State shine. Arise and Shine.”
