LTraders in Katsina State have endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dikko Radda for the 2027 elections, pledging their support for the re-election of the two All Progressives Congress leaders.

The endorsement adds to growing grassroots mobilisation in Katsina ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the state’s APC structure and support groups increasingly rallying behind both leaders.

The traders said their decision was influenced by the policies and programmes of the Tinubu and Radda administrations, while expressing confidence in their ability to continue delivering development to the state and country.

The development comes shortly after Mr Radda publicly assured President Tinubu that Katsina would support his 2027 re-election bid, describing the state as an APC stronghold with a united structure across its 34 local government areas.

Katsina’s political structure

Mr Radda said Katsina had a strong attachment to President Tinubu and urged residents to support the Federal Government.

“President Bola Tinubu, I want you to be rest assured that Katsina State is your state and will not let you down. We will support you, our people will support you, Insha Allah,” the governor said.

The governor also credited the President’s economic reforms with increasing resources available to state governments and creating greater financial autonomy for local governments.

Grassroots mobilisation intensifies

The traders’ endorsement comes amid a broader push by pro-Tinubu groups to deepen grassroots mobilisation across Katsina.

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement recently launched its Katsina structure, inaugurating coordinators across all 34 local government areas and distributing campaign vehicles to facilitate mobilisation at ward and community levels.

The movement’s founder, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, urged members to take the campaign directly to wards, markets, communities and households.

For the APC, the endorsement by traders represents another attempt to consolidate support among grassroots voters ahead of the 2027 elections.

Katsina remains politically significant because of its size and established APC structure. The latest mobilisation suggests that the party is already working to translate its organisational strength into voter support for both the presidential and governorship contests.

At the same time, the endorsement is a political commitment rather than an election result; the eventual outcome will depend on voter turnout, campaign performance and the choices made by Katsina voters at the polls.
