Governor Ademola Adeleke has been cleared as the sole aspirant for the Accord Party governorship ticket ahead of the party’s primary scheduled for today in Osogbo, Osun State.
The clearance followed a screening conducted by the party’s committee, which confirmed that the governor met all requirements for nomination and participation. In a statement on Wednesday, Elder Ibe Thankgod, chairman of the screening committee and National Organising Secretary of the party, said Adeleke had “fulfilled all the requisite requirements for nomination and participation at the primary.”
Thankgod presented a certificate of clearance to Governor Adeleke, describing him as a worthy flagbearer of the party. Other members of the screening committee include Abdurahaman Muhammed, Abdulahi Sani Muhammed, and Mrs. Awogbade Rachael.
Responding, Adeleke expressed gratitude to the committee and the party’s leadership, affirming his readiness for the primary and the forthcoming general elections. “I am ready for the primary and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace,” he said.
Governor Adeleke recently resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal crises within the party. In a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area, he formally withdrew from the party on November 4, 2025, attributing his exit to the crisis at the national level.
“I thank the Peoples Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party,” Adeleke said.
On Tuesday evening, Adeleke announced his new political platform as the Accord Party, marking a new chapter in his political journey.
