The Ogun State Security Network, also known as the ‘Amotekun Corps,’ has arrested Emmanuel Obi, a suspect allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
The arrest was announced in a statement by the Director of Intelligence and Investigation for the corps, CSP Shodeke Sholanke, on Friday in Abeokuta. According to Sholanke, Obi was apprehended in the busy market area of Ayetoro, located in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The arrest followed credible intelligence from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), which had received information that Obi was orchestrating drug transactions in the region. Sholanke added that Obi had enlisted the help of a commercial driver named Alausa, who is currently in NDLEA custody.
Alausa was tasked with transporting a large quantity of suspected hard drugs from Abeokuta to Ayetoro, with an estimated value running into millions of Naira. On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the NDLEA intercepted an 18-seater Mazda bus along the Abeokuta-Ayetoro road. During the interrogation of the driver, it was revealed that Obi was the owner of the seized drugs.
This intelligence led to the swift action of Amotekun operatives, who, with further information from the State NDLEA, were able to arrest Obi.

Amotekun has reiterated its commitment to collaborating with NDLEA operatives to combat drug abuse and trafficking in Ogun State. The statement also highlighted the agency’s ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements involved in the drug trade.
Authorities have emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may pose a threat to the safety and well-being of the community.
Obi has since been transferred to the Ogun State command of NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution.
