Former African Democratic Congress, or ADC, governorship candidate, Arc. Ezekiel Nya Etok, has spoken publicly about how he emerged as the party’s governorship flag bearer during the 2023 general elections.

Speaking during a recent interview, Etok explained that his emergence was the result of a transparent and democratic process within the party. According to him, delegates and party members believed in his vision, leadership qualities, and commitment to serving the people, which led to his nomination.

He said he did not rely on political influence or financial power to secure the ticket. Instead, he focused on presenting practical ideas and a clear plan for improving the lives of the people if elected governor.

Etok described the nomination process as peaceful and competitive, adding that every aspirant was given a fair opportunity to present their programmes before party delegates made their decision.

He thanked members of the ADC for their confidence and support throughout the campaign, saying the experience strengthened his commitment to public service and good governance.

The former governorship candidate also encouraged young people to participate actively in politics. He said leadership should be based on integrity, competence, and the desire to serve, rather than personal interest or the influence of money.

Speaking on the future of the ADC, Etok expressed optimism that the party would continue to grow stronger. He urged party members to remain united and work together to build a credible political alternative capable of delivering good governance.

He also called on Nigerians to remain engaged in the democratic process by participating in elections and holding elected leaders accountable for their promises.

Although he did not win the governorship election, Etok said he remains committed to contributing to the development of his state and supporting initiatives that promote peace, economic growth, quality education, and better healthcare.

Political observers say his remarks provide insight into the internal workings of the ADC during the 2023 election season and reflect his continued interest in public affairs and democratic governance.

As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of future elections, Etok’s message is expected to encourage greater participation, especially among young people and first-time political aspirants.

And that’s the latest political update.
