

Sixteen people have been confirmed dead by the Kebbi State Police Command, following a brutal bandit attack on Tungan Taura and Tungan Ladan villages in Augie Local Government Area.
A statement released on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar noted the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2025. According to him, the assailants, believed to be members of the notorious Lakurawa group, stormed the villages in large numbers, rustled cattle, and engaged locals in a deadly confrontation that resulted in multiple casualties.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, strongly condemned the attack and assured residents that swift justice would follow, announcing the deployment of additional tactical units, including; police, military, NSCDC operatives, and local vigilantes to secure the affected areas and restore calm.
“Our resolve to rid Kebbi State of banditry and other violent crimes remains firm. We are deploying all available resources to ensure that the perpetrators of this senseless act are brought to justice,” The commissioner stated.
Abubakar further explained that, peace has been restored in the attacked communities and investigations is in progress to bring the perpetrators to justice. He also called on residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts, assuring the public of its unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and protection of all citizens in the state.
