Bayern Munich will face Arsenal in a major UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday without French winger Michael Olise, who is suspended for the encounter.

The two European heavyweights meet at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, in the third matchday of the Champions League league phase.

Olise will miss the game after being sent off in Bayern’s previous Champions League match against Viking following two bookable offences. His suspension is a major setback for manager Vincent Kompany, with the winger having established himself as an important creative outlet for the German champions.

The 24-year-old has been involved in 14 goals in 10 appearances this season, registering nine goals and five assists, according to match previews ahead of the Arsenal clash.

Bayern look to maintain home strength

Bayern enter the fixture after recovering in emphatic fashion, beating RB Leipzig 6-1 at the weekend, with Luis Díaz scoring a hat-trick while Harry Kane also found the net.

The Bavarians had previously been held to draws by Viking and Augsburg, but remain unbeaten across all competitions this season.

Kompany must now decide how to replace Olise, with Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry among the options being considered. Jamal Musiala is also unavailable through injury, further reducing Bayern’s creative options.

Arsenal arrive in strong form

Arsenal head into the contest after a 1-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest, secured by Noni Madueke’s late goal.

The Gunners have also won their opening two Champions League matches, including a 3-0 victory over Lille, leaving them unbeaten in the competition.

The match will provide an important test of Bayern’s ability to cope without one of their most influential attacking players.

Bayern have already shown significant attacking power this season, but Arsenal’s defensive strength and recent European form mean Kompany’s side cannot afford a drop in creativity or intensity.

The match is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Central European Time on Wednesday, at the Allianz Arena.
