
A 38-year-old man, Balogun Yekini, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over allegations of sexual assault.
Yekini, whose residential address was not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, the incident occurred on April 17 at No. 19 Embassy Hotel Street, Pashoku, in the Aga area of Ikorodu. Isaac told the court that Yekini allegedly lured a 15-year-old boy into a hotel room with the intent to engage in unlawful sexual activity.

The prosecutor also noted that investigations revealed a pattern of similar behavior, stating that Yekini had a history of booking hotel rooms and bringing in minors.
The alleged offence is said to contravene Sections 262 and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015. Section 262 stipulates a penalty of up to 14 years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
Magistrate B.A. Sonuga granted bail to the defendant in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties in like amount. One surety must be a civil servant with the Lagos State Government, and the other a blood relative of the defendant. Both are required to provide proof of tax payments, and their addresses must be verified by the court.
The case was adjourned until June 19 for mention.
