The 1974 set of the All Hallows Seminary Old Boys Association (AHOBA) celebrated their 50th anniversary reunion with a thanksgiving Mass and convention held on January 3, 2025, at the Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi Major Seminary in Onitsha.
The event began with a Mass presided over by Bishop Denis Isizoh of Aguleri Diocese, who commended the group for their dedication to organizing the yearly gathering. In his homily, Bishop Isizoh reflected on the divine purpose of bringing individuals from diverse backgrounds together in the seminary, highlighting the bonds of brotherhood fostered through their shared experiences.
“Whether a Bishop, engineer, bricklayer, or governor, old schoolmates must remove distinctions and support one another,” Bishop Isizoh said. He urged the group to assist members who have strayed from their faith and continue fostering unity within their fold.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Nicholas Abazie, chairman of AHOBA ’74 and Episcopal Vicar of the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia (Europe), expressed gratitude to Bishop Isizoh, the seminary rector Rev. Fr. Dr. Fabian Obi, and Archbishop Valerian Okeke for their support and encouragement.
During the convention, members discussed initiatives to promote the welfare of their group and charitable works for the less privileged. They celebrated their donation of N7 million toward the seminary hall project. The meeting also featured elections, with Barrister Pius Ilouba emerging as the new chairman of the association.
The convention saw active participation from prominent members, including AHOBA President General Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, Secretary Ambassador Philip Balepo, and Rev. Fr. Dr. Jude Ezeanokwasa, among others. Members shared laughter and nostalgia, reminiscing about their seminary days.
The event concluded with entertainment, gifts, and an atmosphere of camaraderie as the old boys and their families celebrated their enduring bond.
