The National Security Council, on Friday, said it was “considering the appropriate action to be taken” on the recent release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

It also backed the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, who clarified that Kanu’s release was not equivalent to an acquittal.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, disclosed this to State House correspondents shortly after the NSC meeting chaired by President, Muhammadu Buhari, at the Aso Rock Villa.

Dingyadi, who spoke alongside his counterpart in the Ministry of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, said Kanu was only discharged.
