Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, leader of the Northern Regional Caucus in the House of Representatives, has described the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as an exceptional soldier, statesman, and a democrat of rare integrity.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, Doguwa, who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in Kano State, said he received news of Buhari’s death with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss.
“Late President Buhari was a mentor, a father figure, and a statesman whose legacy will endure for generations. He was a man of uncommon integrity, rare honesty, and profound dignity — resolute in character, steadfast in purpose, and unwavering in his commitment to personal principles for the greater good of our country,” Doguwa stated.
Voice of the people (VOP) reports that Doguwa served as Majority Leader of the House during Buhari’s administration.
He praised the former president’s commitment to national development, noting that the Buhari administration laid the groundwork for lasting reforms in key sectors such as rail, road, and energy infrastructure.
“Buhari, even in his imperfections, remained an honourable man — a soldier and patriot who believed in justice, fairness, and the power of good governance,” Doguwa said.
He commended Buhari’s leadership style, stressing that he governed not for applause but out of a deep commitment to service and humanity.

“As we reflect on his life and contributions, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the former First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the children, and the extended Buhari family,” Doguwa added.
He also expressed sympathy to Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State and the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq Umar, CON.
