Feyenoord secured a place in the UEFA Champions League last 16 after holding 10-man AC Milan to a 1-1 draw at San Siro on Tuesday, progressing 2-1 on aggregate.

Argentine forward Julian Carranza netted the decisive goal in the 73rd minute, heading home to cancel out Santiago Gimenez’s early strike and send the Dutch side through to the next round, where they will face either Inter Milan or Arsenal.

Milan’s hopes took a major blow early in the second half when Theo Hernandez was sent off. Already on a yellow card for a first-half foul, the French full-back was shown a second booking for simulation in the penalty area under pressure from Givairo Read.

Match Summary

The night had started perfectly for Milan when former Feyenoord striker Gimenez found the net just 36 seconds into the game. The Mexican forward, who joined Milan during the winter transfer window, registered his sixth Champions League goal of the season against his old club.

However, Hernandez’s dismissal shifted the momentum, allowing Feyenoord to push forward. Carranza, coming on as a substitute, delivered the crucial blow with a towering header, sealing Milan’s fate.

Milan, managed by Sergio Conceicao, now face an uphill battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The seven-time European champions currently sit seventh in Serie A, five points behind the top four with a game in hand.
