Friends of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba have announced a candlelight and artists’ night in honour of the deceased actress.
The event, themed “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories,” is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at LTV 8 (Blueroof), Ikeja, Lagos, beginning at 5 p.m.
According to a flyer shared on Ms. Osoba’s official Instagram page on Friday, the gathering will celebrate her life, creativity and contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
The organisers described the event as an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues and admirers to honour her memory.
“Her voice, her art, her spirit… will remain in our hearts,” the organisers stated.
The announcement comes days after the actress died at the age of 40.
Her death was announced on Wednesday by fellow actor Mr. Alesh Sanni, who shared an emotional tribute on his Instagram page.
Mr. Sanni, who described Ms. Osoba as his “dearest sister,” said he had been unable to sleep after receiving the news of her passing.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” he wrote.
Actress Ms. Adeyemo Seilat also paid tribute to the late actress in an Instagram reel.
She wrote:
“Sigh! I hate to hear about the death of young people. Life is vanity! Rest in peace Tope Osoba. May you find eternal rest.”
Cancer survivor who returned to acting
Ms. Osoba’s death came about two years after she publicly revealed her battle with cancer and appealed for support towards her treatment.
Following her recovery, she announced her return to the movie industry in August 2025, describing her cancer journey as life-changing.
She had written:
“Dear beloved fans, supporters, and loved ones, I’m Temitope Osoba, and after my cancer experience, I’m excited to announce my reintroduction.”
The actress said she was returning with a renewed commitment to healing, personal growth and empowerment while using her platform to promote cancer awareness and support others facing similar health challenges.
She also expressed appreciation to her management team for standing by her during her treatment and announced that she was available for acting roles, brand endorsements and event collaborations.
Family cautions against false reports
Meanwhile, Ms. Osoba’s family has urged the public and the media to disregard unverified reports surrounding the circumstances of her death.
In a statement shared through the actress’ official social media page, the family described several claims circulating on social media and blogs as “false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized.”
The family appealed for privacy as they mourn their loved one, noting that any official information would be released only through authorised representatives or official communication channels.

Known for her performances in Yoruba-language Nollywood productions, Ms. Osoba is remembered by colleagues and fans for her talent, resilience and dedication to the Nigerian film industry.
The 11 August candlelight and artists’ night is expected to bring together family members, friends, actors, entertainers and fans to celebrate her life and lasting legacy.
