Abuja, Nigeria — Legal practitioner and political analyst Barrister Darlington has questioned the Federal Government’s handling of the fight against terrorism, suggesting that authorities are aware of those funding and supporting terrorist groups in the country.
Speaking during a live programme on VOP TV, Darlington raised concerns about the government’s silence and lack of decisive action against those bankrolling insurgent activities across the nation.
“Have you asked yourself where these terrorists are getting their funding from? The government cannot claim they don’t know who is sponsoring them,” Darlington said.
He argued that sustained terrorist operations require significant financial backing, logistics, and intelligence support — all of which point to powerful interests working behind the scenes.
“You cannot buy sophisticated weapons, fuel vehicles, and maintain camps without steady funding. Someone is providing the money, and it’s impossible for security agencies not to know,” he added.
Darlington called for greater transparency and accountability in the war against terrorism, urging the government to expose and prosecute anyone involved, no matter how influential.
“If the government is serious about ending terrorism, it should start by naming and shaming their sponsors. Until that happens, Nigerians will continue to doubt the sincerity of the fight,” he warned.
Security analysts have long expressed similar concerns, insisting that terrorism in Nigeria thrives largely because of political protection and weak enforcement against financiers.
