Residents of Okpoko, a densely populated area in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, are finally experiencing relief as Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s free pipe-borne water project addresses long-standing water scarcity in the community.
For years, access to clean and affordable water had been a major challenge in Okpoko. Many families were forced to buy water from vendors at high prices, often without assurance of its quality. Others had to trek long distances to fetch water, adding to the daily struggles of low-income households.
With the new water project in place, residents say their burden has been significantly reduced. Speaking on the development, Mr. Jude Okoli, Mr. Ekene Nnamdi, and Mrs. Chineye Okoh expressed gratitude to the state government, noting that water is now readily available and accessible at no cost. They also highlighted a significant drop in water prices in the area.
According to them, the water supply runs regularly, providing much-needed relief. However, they urged the state government to sustain the initiative and expand the service to cover more streets in the community.
