Abuja, Nigeria — Legal practitioner and public affairs analyst Barrister Darlington has expressed doubt over the Federal Government’s effectiveness in tackling Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges, warning that citizens are bearing the brunt of insecurity.
Speaking during a live program on VOP TV, Darlington questioned the government’s claims of progress, noting that the reality on the ground tells a different story.
“I don’t believe the government is winning this battle. If they were, the people wouldn’t be running for their lives,” he said.
He stressed that persistent attacks, kidnappings, and other forms of violence indicate a widening gap between security assurances and actual safety, urging authorities to take urgent and decisive action.
“The safety of citizens must be prioritized. Words alone will not restore confidence,” Darlington added.
Analysts have echoed similar concerns, highlighting that rising insecurity threatens both economic growth and social stability, and warning that without tangible government intervention, public trust will continue to erode.
