Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has raised the alarm, saying that he may not be alive to witness or contest the 2027 general elections. He used the remark to underscore the uncertainty of life and the importance of focusing on Nigeria’s immediate challenges rather than engaging in premature political campaigns.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Obi stressed that no one can predict the future or guarantee they will still be alive in 2027. He urged political leaders to concentrate on delivering good governance, improving the economy, tackling insecurity, and addressing the everyday concerns of Nigerians instead of being preoccupied with the next election cycle.

According to the 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate, leadership should be measured by the positive impact it has on people’s lives today, not by early political maneuvering for future elections. He maintained that the country’s current challenges require urgent attention and that public office should be centered on service and accountability.

Obi’s comments have generated widespread reactions, with many viewing them as a reminder that the future is uncertain and that leaders should prioritize meaningful governance over political ambition
