A strong desire to return
One of the biggest reasons behind the transfer was Cancelo’s determination to play for Barcelona again.
When he arrived in Barcelona earlier this week, the defender openly explained how much he wanted the move to happen. He revealed that he had even been prepared to spend a year without playing rather than continue away from Barcelona.
Cancelo also confirmed that he gave up part of his salary to help make the return possible.
The Portuguese international said he was extremely happy to be back and that Barcelona was where he wanted to be.
