Abia State Governor Alex Otti has declared that the crisis within the Labour Party has been resolved, expressing confidence that the party is now stable and prepared for the 2027 general elections.
Mr Otti made the declaration on Friday in a post shared via his official X handle after receiving a free nomination form from the party’s National Working Committee at the Abia State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.
The nomination form was presented by the party’s National Chairman, Nenadi Usman.
The Labour Party has faced months of internal leadership battles, factional disputes, and legal challenges following the 2023 general elections, raising concerns over the party’s future ahead of 2027.
Otti praises party leadership
Speaking after receiving the form, Mr Otti commended Mrs Usman and the party leadership for resolving the prolonged internal disputes that had threatened the party’s unity and stability.
“I commend Senator Usman for her leadership in steering our party out of the protracted crisis that once plagued it,” he said.
‘No subsisting litigation’
Mr Otti stated that the party had successfully overcome all legal obstacles, paving the way for preparations toward the next election cycle.
“Today, I am confident that the coast is clear for the Labour Party to move forward into the next general elections, as all legal impediments have been effectively resolved, with no subsisting litigation against our party,” he stated.
The governor also thanked members of the National Working Committee for the recognition and gesture.
“I sincerely thank the leadership of our great party, including the National Chairman, the National Secretary Hon. Obioma Iheanacho, and all members of the NWC, for this honour,” he added.
Loyalty and commitment
Mr Otti pledged continued loyalty and support to the party, promising not to disappoint the leadership and supporters.
“I pledge never to disappoint the Labour Party and will continue to support it in every possible way,” he said.
He dedicated the recognition to the people of Abia State, saying their support continues to inspire his administration’s commitment to governance and service delivery.
