The Lagos State Government has introduced a new traffic management plan aimed at reducing congestion in key areas across the city. The plan, which includes stricter enforcement of traffic laws and the deployment of additional traffic officers, is expected to improve the flow of vehicles during peak hours.
Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, announced the initiative earlier today, stressing the need to address the city’s worsening traffic situation. He highlighted that the government is also investing in traffic technology, including smart traffic lights and surveillance cameras, to help manage traffic more efficiently.
The new measures will focus on heavily congested areas such as Victoria Island, Ikeja, and Lekki, where traffic gridlock often disrupts daily activities and causes delays for commuters. Dr. Oladeinde urged residents to cooperate with the authorities and obey traffic regulations to ensure the plan’s success.
With Lagos being one of the fastest-growing cities in Africa, the government hopes the new strategy will bring much-needed relief to road users and improve overall mobility in the state.
