The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has suspended two family heads (Mogajis) over allegations of land grabbing and abuse of traditional authority.
The affected chiefs, Kamorudeen Kolawole of the Kukula family (Ibadan North East) and Samsudeen Bello of the Ekerin Ajengbe family (Ibadan South West), have been stripped of their traditional beads and titles indefinitely. They are also barred from representing themselves as Mogajis until further notice.
The decision was announced during a meeting of the Olubadan Land Matters Committee at the old palace in Oja Oba, Ibadan. Speaking on behalf of the monarch, Otun Olubadan, Oba Senator Rasidi Ladoja, said the chiefs must “retrace their steps and do the needful” before any reinstatement is considered.
this move reflects the Olubadan’s ongoing commitment to curb land disputes, exploitation, and power abuse among traditional leaders. He has repeatedly warned Mogajis and Baales to uphold the dignity of their positions and act in the interest of their communities.
