The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that 6,260 terrorists were neutralized and 14,138 terrorists and other criminals apprehended during joint military operations across Nigeria in the past two years.
Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim Abu-Mawashi, Deputy Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja during an Expanded Parley with Media Executives. The event marked the second anniversary of Gen. Christopher Musa’s tenure as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), alongside other service chiefs.
Abu-Mawashi detailed the military’s achievements, including the rescue of 5,365 kidnapped victims and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
Niger Delta (Operation Delta Safe):
N83 billion worth of stolen crude oil recovered.
103 criminals killed, 2,760 arrested.
266 civilians rescued.
North East (Operation Hadin Kai):
1,246 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists killed, 2,467 arrested.
1,920 civilians rescued.
982 arms and 2,153 rounds of ammunition recovered.
North West (Operation Fasin Yamma):
1,374 bandits killed, 2,160 arrested.
3,288 hostages rescued.
947 weapons and 25,802 rounds recovered.
North Central:
730 terrorists and violent extremists killed, 7,153 arrested.
1,510 civilians rescued.
1,065 weapons and 19,709 rounds of ammunition recovered.
South East (Operation UDO KA):
440 terrorists eliminated, 1,677 criminals arrested.
294 civilians rescued.
683 weapons and 21,300 rounds recovered.
South West (Joint Task Force):
80 criminals killed, 1,763 arrested.
89 kidnapped victims rescued.
143 weapons and 177,904 rounds of ammunition recovered.
Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, described the event as a reflection of the military’s people-centric approach and its dedication to informing the public about its operations and sacrifices.
