Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development was disclosed on Thursday, in a statement issued in Abuja by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mike Idoko.

Mr Idoko said party members and supporters participated in an affirmation exercise conducted across the 57 wards of Kogi Central Senatorial District.

The exercise was held simultaneously before the final collation of results at Kahal Cinema in Okene, where party stakeholders, supporters and leaders gathered for the completion of the process.

INEC, media monitor exercise

According to the statement, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the exercise alongside members of the media to ensure transparency and due process.

Speaking after the collation of results, Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan thanked party loyalists and supporters for what she described as a strong show of confidence and unity.

“This affirmation is a reflection of the trust and confidence the people of Kogi Central have continued to place in our collective vision for progress, inclusion and development,” Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

Massive turnout across 57 wards

Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan said the turnout demonstrated commitment among PDP members to deepen democratic participation in the district.

“I am deeply humbled by the massive turnout across all 57 wards. This is not just about one individual; it is about our people coming together in unity to deepen democracy and build a stronger and more prosperous Kogi Central,” she stated.

She also reaffirmed her commitment to representing the interests of constituents and sustaining close engagement with communities across the senatorial zone.

“I accept this responsibility with gratitude and renewed commitment. By the grace of God and with the continued support of our people, we will remain focused on delivering sustainable development, justice and opportunities for everyone,” Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan added.

Kogi Central remains one of the most politically strategic senatorial districts in Kogi State, and Mrs Akpoti-Uduaghan’s emergence is expected to shape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

As the incumbent senator representing Kogi Central, her affirmation by the PDP signals party unity and early positioning as political realignments begin across major parties ahead of the next general elections.
