During an interactive session with field officers, Sylvester Nwakuche, the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, highlighted overcrowding as the most pressing challenge facing the system. To address this, the service plans to collaborate with the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Inspector-General of Police, and other prosecuting agencies to expedite the trials of those awaiting court proceedings.

This move aims to alleviate the burden on the correctional facilities and ensure that justice is served more swiftly.
