The Executive Chairman of Nnewi South Local Government Area has announced the installation of solar-powered lights across thirteen Primary Healthcare Centres and other health facilities in the region. This move, aimed at replacing conventional electric power, is expected to significantly improve the efficiency and functionality of the healthcare facilities.
Following the delivery of the necessary panels and equipment, the chairman reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the welfare of the local community through innovative solutions. The solar-powered system, which uses lithium batteries, will provide reliable electricity, boosting productivity, improving emergency response times, and ensuring greater security within these facilities.
The Chairman expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, for his continuous efforts to make the state more livable and prosperous. He also thanked Dr. Afam Obidike, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, and Dr. Nnadozie, SPAD on Pharmaceuticals, for their support.
The solar-powered lighting system will be installed at the following thirteen healthcare facilities in Nnewi South:
1. Health Centre, Odikpi Osumenyi
2. Primary Healthcare Centre, Isoke, Amichi
3. Primary Healthcare Centre, Ifite Ezinifite (Charity)
4. Primary Healthcare Centre, Etiti Akwaihedi
5. Unubi Primary Health Care Centre, Etitinabor
6. Primary Healthcare Centre, Urueze Ekwulumili
7. Primary Healthcare Centre, Uboma Ukpor
8. Primary Healthcare Centre, Umuehim Utuh
9. Primary Healthcare Centre, Isuokpala Azigbo
10. Primary Healthcare Centre, Umunwehi Amichi
11. Primary Healthcare Centre, Ebenator
12. Primary Healthcare Centre, Ukpor
13. Primary Healthcare Centre, Obiofia Osumenyi
The Chairman also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of his deputy, Mrs. Nneka Ireka, who is in charge of Education and Health in the council area, as well as Mr. Okechukwu Umemba, the Supervisor for Health. He extended his thanks to the twenty elected councillors for their efforts in making the project a reality.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that a progressive Nnewi South is assured with these ongoing projects. He further reminded residents of the ongoing “February For Project” (FFP), which continues to focus on impactful developments in the region.
