The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of twin princes with his wife, Mariam Ajibola, to the Royal House of Oduduwa.

The monarch disclosed the development in a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Friday.

In the announcement, the traditional ruler expressed gratitude to God over the safe delivery, confirming that both the mother and the newborn princes are in good health.

“To God be all the glory and adoration for His wondrous works and abundant blessings once again.

“Warmest congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and to Olori Mariam Ajibola on the joyous arrival of twin princes to the royal throne of Oduduwa today.

“We give thanks to Almighty God as both mother and children are in good health,” the statement read.

Royal family

The birth of the twins marks another major milestone in the royal household of the Ooni of Ife.

Following the end of his marriage to Naomi Silekunola, the monarch married multiple queens within a short period in 2022.

Among the queens are Mariam Anako, Elizabeth Akinmuda, Tobiloba Phillips, Ashley Adegoke, Ronke Ademiluyi and Temitope Adesegun.

Earlier, while celebrating his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary, Oba Ogunwusi explained that his marriages were connected to the traditional heritage and cultural responsibilities attached to the throne of Ile-Ife.
