Osun election: Obi hails Adeleke’s re-election, urges Nigerians to protect their votes

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, while calling on Nigerians to remain vigilant in protecting their votes.

Obi described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the will of the people and commended voters in the state for participating in the electoral process.

In a statement, the former Anambra State governor stressed the importance of credible elections in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

He urged Nigerians to take greater responsibility for safeguarding their votes, particularly during elections, saying that the power to determine the country’s leadership ultimately belongs to the people.

Obi also encouraged political leaders and stakeholders to respect the choices made by voters and ensure that democratic institutions continue to operate fairly and transparently.

His comments came following the outcome of the Osun State governorship election, in which Adeleke secured another term in office.

The NDC political figure further called on Nigerians to remain committed to democratic values and to participate actively in the electoral process.

He said protecting the sanctity of the ballot remains essential to ensuring that citizens’ choices are reflected in the outcome of elections.
