OsunDecides2026: Residents Flood Polling Units in Oyebamiji’s Hometown, Await Accreditation

Residents of Ikire, the hometown of APC governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, turned out in large numbers early Saturday morning to participate in the Osun governorship election.

From as early as 7:00 a.m., voters were seen arriving at polling units, checking the voters’ registers and waiting patiently for accreditation before casting their ballots.

For many residents, the early turnout reflects their determination to have a say in who leads Osun State for the next four years.

INEC officials had already arrived at several polling units before 7:00 a.m., while security personnel were deployed across the town to maintain order and ensure a peaceful voting process.

Despite the large gathering of voters, the atmosphere in Ikire remained largely calm, with shops open and normal activities continuing as residents waited for the voting process to get underway.

Ikire is particularly significant in today’s election as the hometown of Oyebamiji, one of the leading contenders in the governorship race.

For the residents standing in queues this morning, however, the focus is simple: to be accredited, cast their ballots and make their voices count.
