Residents Wait on Projects as Wike Says He Needs No Title to Deliver for Tinubu

Nyesom Wike has brushed off reports that he is angling for the Director-General job of the APC presidential campaign council. The FCT Minister says he does not need the position, or any seat on the council  to deliver Rivers State and the FCT for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

In a statement on Monday, his spokesman Lere Olayinka said the reports were false. Wike had not discussed the role with anyone. He is currently outside the country resting after more than 30 days of commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting others, many of them due for completion in December and January.

When he returns, he said, the focus will stay on his work in the FCT and on making sure Tinubu records a strong win in Rivers and Abuja.

For the people living in the FCT, the projects matter more than the political talk. The roads and infrastructure under construction affect how they move, work and live every day. Wike is tying his relevance to those results, not to a campaign title.

In Rivers, where he still holds strong political sway, his claim that he can deliver the state without any official campaign role will be judged by voters on the ground. Some believe he has the network to back it up. Others will wait to see what actually changes in their communities.

Wike has made it clear he is not chasing the title. Residents in both places will measure him by the projects that get finished and the votes that follow.
