Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf on Tuesday, has approved a N20,000 Eid-el-Kabir goodwill package for civil servants across the state and its 44 local government areas as part of efforts to support workers ahead of the festive celebration.

The approval was disclosed in a statement issued in Kano by the Press Secretary to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Tanko-Muhammad.

According to the statement, the intervention is aimed at easing financial pressure on workers as they prepare for Eid-el-Kabir amid prevailing economic challenges.

The package will cover civil servants on Grade Levels 01 to 14 across state ministries, departments, agencies, and local government councils in Kano State.

The development comes shortly after the Kano State Government completed the payment of May salaries to workers at both the state and local government levels.

Support for workers ahead of Eid

Governor Yusuf said the gesture reflects his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers, whom he described as critical to the smooth running of public service in the state.

Mr Yusuf explained that the decision was influenced by current economic realities and the growing financial demands that often accompany festive periods.

He said the support package is expected to help workers celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with relief and renewed hope alongside their families.

“The initiative reflects our administration’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of workers, who remain the backbone of public service in Kano State.”

Focus on welfare and productivity

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue implementing people-focused policies aimed at improving workers’ welfare, boosting productivity, and sustaining an efficient public service system.

He also extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to civil servants and residents of Kano State, praying for peace, unity, and prosperity across the state and Nigeria.

The approval comes at a time when several state governments are under pressure to introduce welfare measures and economic relief initiatives as Nigerians continue to grapple with rising living costs and inflation.

The N20,000 Eid package is expected to provide short-term financial support for eligible workers during the Sallah celebration.
