President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice-President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as a trusted ally, patriot and valued partner whose loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration.
In a birthday message personally issued on Tuesday, 1 September, Tinubu described Shettima as his “brother and partner in steering the ship of our state” and praised his years of service, commitment and sacrifice to Nigeria.
Shettima’s record of service
Tinubu commended Shettima’s distinguished career in banking and his subsequent service as Governor of Borno State and Vice-President of Nigeria.
The President said Shettima had demonstrated courage, diligence and compassion in public office, alongside a commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
He also congratulated Shettima’s wife, Nana, his children, family members and political associates as the Vice-President marked the milestone.
Role in economic management
The President highlighted Shettima’s role as Chairman of the National Economic Council, praising his leadership in coordinating economic policies and promoting cooperation between the Federal Government and state governments.
Tinubu said the Vice-President’s engagement with the sub-national governments had helped advance national development and address challenges confronting Nigerians.
He also commended Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and his support for the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Democracy and governance
President Tinubu further praised VP Shettima’s respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, dialogue and consultation.
According to the President, these qualities are important to strengthening democratic governance and fostering cooperation across the country.
He described Shettima as a trusted partner whose loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty had remained valuable to the administration.
The President thanked his deputy for his steadfast support and partnership as the administration continues to pursue its programmes and fulfil its promises to Nigerians.
Mr Tinubu expressed confidence that their partnership would continue to deliver meaningful progress and contribute to building the Nigeria they envision.
He also prayed that Allah would continue to guide, protect and strengthen Shettima, granting him wisdom, good health and many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria.
