The North-East Coalition Against Terrorism (NECAT), a youth-led organization, has called for widespread support for Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the newly appointed Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, to intensify efforts against insurgency in the region.

In a statement released on Friday in Abuja, the group’s Convener, Mallam Ismail Mustapha, described Abubakar’s appointment as timely and expressed optimism that it would help restore peace and stability to the North-East.
Mustapha commended the Nigerian Armed Forces under the leadership of Gen. Christopher Musa for their persistent campaign against insurgents. He urged youths in the region to reject influence from groups that do not prioritize the people’s welfare.
“The posting of the new commander is part of the military’s broader strategy to revitalize anti-insurgency operations,” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of unity, Mustapha stated, “The region will continue to lag behind unless all sectors of society unite to support our troops and defeat those behind this crisis.”
He also appealed to regional stakeholders to actively participate in the fight against terrorism, saying, “We must confront the truth about our situation. Now is the time for all to rally behind the armed forces and security agencies working to bring peace to our region.”
