Troops Rescue 34 Kidnap Victims in Coordinated Operations

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 34 kidnapped victims, apprehended a suspected ISWAP informant, and recovered arms and ammunition during coordinated counter-terrorism operations across the country.

An operational report released by the Defence Headquarters detailed major tactical breakthroughs across the North-East and other operational sectors. In Borno State, troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion intercepted ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists who had stopped four vehicles along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area to abduct commuters. Swift action and real-time CCTV monitoring allowed troops to deploy a quick reaction force that overwhelmed the insurgents, forcing them to abandon 31 victims on the spot.

Simultaneously, tactical troops from the 232 Battalion apprehended a high-profile ISWAP informant at Garaha Market in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. Additional clearance patrols in Mobbar Local Government Area forced fleeing insurgents to abandon operational motorcycles and illicit substances near Damasak.

Outside the North-East, troops operating under Operation MESA in Kogi State rescued a kidnapped mother and her two children abducted from a local Ruga settlement. Broader sweeps across the South-East and North-West led to the recovery of multiple AK-47 rifles, sidearms, and live ammunition. Military authorities confirmed that all rescued individuals received medical evaluation and debriefings before being safely reunited with their families.
