Voice of the People(VOP)90.3 FM has been rated as the most listened to radio station in Nigeria.
The radio station which started about three years ago and located along Murtala Muhammed International Airport road, Lagos has an average listenership of five million per day and over 92000 subscribers.
The rating was primarily based on audience size, listener loyalty and demographic composition.
The other criteria are context mix, call out research and top-of-mind-awareness.
Voice of the people radio is reputed for being among the few radio stations in Nigeria that do critique of government policies and programs.
Reacting to the rating, the management of the radio station said thus:
“In VOP 90.3FM, we study power, we analyze world economics, we examine global decisions and what they actually mean for Nigerians, because breaking news is easy but understanding what comes after the headlines is what truly matters.Again, as voice of the people, we explain power; we explain consequences; we explain what it means for Nigeria and the world, because our listeners need to know the truth.”
