The local government election in Lagos faced early setbacks in Ifako-Ijaiye as voters experienced significant delays due to the late arrival of electoral officials and materials.
Despite the scheduled start time of 8:00 a.m., voting in several polling units did not begin until between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Frustrated voters who arrived early expressed concern over the poor organization and lack of preparedness by electoral authorities.
According to (voptv) and the officials from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), heavy rainfall in the early morning hours affected the transportation and distribution of sensitive materials and delayed the movement of ad hoc staff.
LASIEC has assured the public that voting hours would be extended in affected areas to ensure that all accredited voters have the opportunity to cast their ballots.
This delay mirrors similar incidents across other local government areas in Lagos, including Ogba and Oshodi-Isolo, raising concerns about election logistics and voter turnout.
