The Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has said the organisation remains intact and will work with the newly constituted All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Mr Uzodimma stated this on Tuesday at an emergency meeting of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Abuja, convened to address concerns among state coordinators and members that the organisation could be dissolved following the formation of the campaign council.
The governor stressed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors was established by President Tinubu and had a mandate distinct from, but complementary to, the temporary campaign council.
“Renewed Hope Ambassadors was created by Mr President, not by Senator Hope Uzodimma,” he said, explaining that the organisation was established to communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians and educate the public on the government’s policies.
No rivalry with campaign council
Mr Uzodimma said the constitution of the presidential campaign council was a normal political development ahead of an election and did not affect the status or mandate of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
“I’ve invited you to let you know that nothing has changed. The constitution of the presidential campaign council is a political issue that happens every time there is an election,” he said.
He described the ambassadors as the “organic structure” of President Tinubu, stressing that the organisation would continue to function even after the 2027 elections.
“The presidential campaign council, which all of us are members of, will come and be used for election purposes. And after that, we will continue. We are not going anywhere,” he stated.
Using an analogy, Mr Uzodimma said, “You are like the barracks. Soldiers will come, soldiers will go, the barracks will remain.”
He added that President Tinubu had asked him to reassure members that “nothing has changed” and that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors remained in place.
Partnership ahead Of 2027
Mr Uzodimma said the organisation would work directly with the presidential campaign council, stressing that both structures had the same objective of securing victory for President Tinubu.
“If anything, I am the Director-General of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, I’m the Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council, I’m the head of the secretariat,” he said.
“So there is no way we will be beating our chest when we have drummed a bit. Rest assured and go home. There is no fight, no quarrel. Our product is the President, and our commitment is to go there and win the election.”
He called for broad mobilisation, saying the campaign would need the support of every eligible voter.
“We are not driving anybody away, but we are Renewed Hope Ambassadors. This is the presidential campaign office. We are going to work with the presidential campaign council,” he said.
“We need every vote in Nigeria. Every vote. There is no bad vote. Once you are Nigerian and able to vote for President Bola Tinubu, we need the vote.”
September summit planned
The governor also announced plans for a summit involving elected and appointed political officeholders across Nigeria in the third week of September.
The event, which will be organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in partnership with the Progressive Governors Forum and local government chairmen, is expected to be addressed by President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Mr Uzodimma said the meeting was also necessary because reports of moves to dissolve the organisation in some states had created uncertainty among members.
He said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors currently had offices across all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and the six geopolitical zones.
Members Reaffirm Support
Speaking on behalf of the national coordinators, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim thanked Mr Uzodimma for clarifying the organisation’s position.
Mr Anyim said the meeting had helped close a communication gap that could otherwise have caused misunderstanding.
“Without communication, there would be miscommunication or even misunderstanding,” he said.
He reaffirmed members’ commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election, saying their primary concern remained delivering victory for their candidate regardless of the organisational arrangement.
“Our faith in our product is actually the driving force, and we sustain that faith anyhow, whatever it takes for us to put in our best for our candidate to win the election,” Mr Anyim said.
The National Director of Logistics and Support, Shehu Usman, also welcomed the clarification, saying members in different states had been seeking answers about the organisation’s future following the creation of the campaign council.
He said the briefing had addressed those concerns and expressed optimism that the ambassadors would work effectively with the presidential campaign council.
The development means the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will remain part of the pro-Tinubu mobilisation structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election, rather than being absorbed or dissolved following the creation of the campaign council.
For the ruling party and its supporters, the arrangement is expected to provide an additional grassroots mobilisation network as preparations for the election intensify. The organisation has already been conducting media tours across the six geopolitical zones to highlight the administration’s reforms and achievements.
