Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has mobilised his political associates to strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election and the emergence of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as Lagos governor in 2027.
The mobilisation followed a strategic meeting Mr Ambode held with his political associates on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, where he reaffirmed his commitment to party unity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the Ambode Support Associates and signed by its representative, Adeshina Tiamiyu, the group said arrangements were underway to receive Dr Hamzat and other APC candidates in Epe next week.
The proposed gathering is expected to bring together party members, political leaders, community stakeholders and other party supporters from across Lagos State.
According to the statement, the engagement will provide an opportunity to strengthen existing political alliances, deepen collaboration and renew members’ commitment to the party ahead of the elections.
Grassroots groups targeted for mobilisation
The group said its mobilisation drive would extend to Community Development Associations, market women, artisans, persons living with disabilities and other grassroots groups across the state.
It said the initiative was guided by its philosophy of “One Nation, One Community, One Family”, stressing the importance of inclusion in building political support.
“The message is clear: unity must translate into action, relationships must translate into stronger alliances, and collective commitment must translate into electoral success because we believe strongly in inclusion,” the statement said.
Mr Ambode served as Lagos governor from 2015 to 2019 after winning the 2015 governorship election on the APC platform. He lost the party’s 2018 governorship primary to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who succeeded him in office.
