Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has commenced her re-election campaign across Kogi Central ahead of the February 6, 2027 senatorial election, engaging supporters and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in several communities across the district.

The campaign, which began on Sunday, featured roadside receptions in parts of Okene and other communities before culminating in a gathering at the senator’s residence in Obeiba, Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s media aide, Mike Idoko, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.

The senator, who was accompanied by her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and other political associates, used the engagements to reaffirm her commitment to constituency development, legislative advocacy and what she described as quality representation.

She said her relationship with the people of Kogi Central extended beyond election periods, describing their support as a major motivation for her continued service.

“My relationship with the people of Kogi Central goes beyond elections. These are my people, my family and the very reason I remain committed to public service,” she said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed appreciation to residents who turned out for the campaign, saying their participation reflected the relationship she had built with constituents over time.

She also pledged to intensify efforts to attract infrastructure projects, economic opportunities and other development initiatives to the district, particularly Ajaokuta, which she said required sustained attention.

The senator maintained that effective representation should involve regular engagement with constituents, responsiveness to their needs and purposeful legislative interventions, rather than merely occupying public office.

The campaign also attracted PDP candidates seeking election into the House of Representatives for Adavi/Okehi, Ajaokuta and Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituencies, as well as the party’s candidates for the various Kogi State House of Assembly constituencies in Kogi Central.

Their participation provided an opportunity for party members and candidates to strengthen cooperation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the statement, thousands of supporters gathered at Akpoti-Uduaghan’s residence in Ihima, with many remaining at the venue until late at night.

Kogi Central Senatorial District comprises five local government areas: Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene and Ogori-Magongo.
