The Vice Chairman of the Justice Forum and APC Woman Leader in Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, Lagos, Ibiyemi Sanni, has declared support for the fourth-term ambition of Babajimi Benson.

Mrs Sanni made the clarification in a statement issued on Saturday, dismissing reports that she opposed Mr Benson’s bid for another term in the House of Representatives.

“I fully support Hon. Babajimi Benson for another term. Attempts to use my name to fuel tension within our constituency and the Justice Forum are mischievous and condemnable,” she said.

She emphasised that democracy allows individuals to contest and gives constituents the right to choose their representatives.

“Democracy guarantees the right to aspire and the right of constituents to choose. Reducing that choice through false attributions and manufactured discontent does a disservice to our people,” Mrs Sanni added.

Call for unity

Mrs Sanni urged party members and stakeholders in Igbogbo/Bayeku to disregard what she described as false claims and remain focused on unity within the party.

“I also urge the public, party members, and stakeholders in Igbogbo/Baiyeku to disregard the false claims and continue supporting Hon. Babajimi Benson for sustained progress,” she said.

She reaffirmed her commitment to the Justice Forum and the All Progressives Congress, as well as the development of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

“I remain committed to the unity of the Justice Forum, the APC, and the continued development of Ikorodu Federal Constituency,” she said.

Track record

Mrs Sanni credited Mr Benson’s performance since his election in 2015, highlighting infrastructure and social projects executed across the constituency.

According to her, these include road construction, the establishment of a Smart Police Station, and an 80-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Imota.

Legislative profile

Mr Benson, who currently chairs the House Committee on Defence, is serving his third consecutive term in the House of Representatives, having been first elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 and 2023.
