The Emir of Karaye, Dr. Muhammad Mahraz, has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his generous donation of 250 Saudi Riyals (approximately ₦105,000) to each of the 3,345 Kano State pilgrims currently performing the 2025 Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
According to the Voice Of the People (VOP), Governor Yusuf personally made the donation during a visit to the pilgrims’ camp in Makkah on Saturday.
Overseeing the distribution of the funds on Monday, Dr. Mahraz praised the governor’s kind gesture and urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate by praying for the governor’s guidance, well-being, and the continued socio-economic and political progress of Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
The Emir also commended the state government for providing free meals to pilgrims in Makkah and Mina, which he noted significantly eased the challenges faced during the Hajj rituals. He further advised clerics and local liaison officers to continue guiding pilgrims throughout their stay in the holy land and reminded pilgrims to keep their travel documents with them at all times.

In a related development, Kano State pilgrims also expressed their gratitude to Governor Yusuf for his financial support.
One of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Nadada Rano from Rano Local Government Area, praised the governor’s generosity. Speaking with NAN after receiving the donation, Rano, a retired Environmental Health Officer who funded his Hajj pilgrimage using his gratuity, said the assistance would greatly help pilgrims with their upkeep in the holy land.
“Governor Yusuf has shown that he is a leader who listens to the needs of his people. This support will go a long way in easing our financial burden during the Hajj,” he said.
Rano pledged to continue praying for the governor, particularly for his efforts to ensure timely payment of retirees’ benefits.
Similarly, Alhaji Nura Haladu from Gwale Local Government Area lauded the governor for addressing the needs of pilgrims, citing the provision of free meals, bottled water, assorted drinks, and mobile medical clinics as examples of his commitment.
He noted that the 250 Riyals donation would help alleviate the challenges faced by pilgrims and allow them to focus more on their spiritual obligations.
“This kind of leadership is what our people need — caring, proactive, and responsive,” Haladu said.
The donation and other support initiatives underscore Governor Yusuf’s dedication to the welfare of Kano State pilgrims during the Hajj season.
