Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed his desire to return to school and obtain a university degree after retiring from professional football, describing education as an important personal ambition.

The Galatasaray forward made the disclosure during an interview with Instablog TV, where he reflected on life beyond football and the value of continuous learning.

Osimhen said many of the most important lessons in his life were learned outside the classroom through personal experiences.

“As an adult, not everything I learned in school. There are some kinds of life lessons you encounter through life’s journey,” he said.

Planning for life after football

The 27-year-old noted that a football career is relatively short, making it essential for players to prepare for life after retirement.

He explained that earning a university degree would be a significant personal achievement.

“For me, it would be an amazing thing to also try to get a degree, which I’m still considering because football, you won’t play for so long, probably 20, 25 years, and then you’re done.”

Setting an example for young people

Osimhen said that although he already has opportunities to rely on after his football career, pursuing higher education would allow him to inspire younger generations.

“In as much as I have a lot of things to fall back to when I’m done, I think it’s still important for me to set an example, to set a standard for the younger generation.”

The Nigerian international also encouraged young people who had suspended their education because of financial or personal challenges not to give up on their academic aspirations.

He stressed that education remains accessible regardless of one’s circumstances.

“Even though you dropped out due to some kind of challenges you have, it’s something you can always go back to. School is always there.”

Although Osimhen did not disclose when he intends to return to school or the course he hopes to study, his comments have attracted praise from fans, many of whom described his message as an inspiring reminder of the enduring value of education.
