The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that its counter-terrorism operations in Borno State targeted terrorist hideouts and logistics structures located at Biramiri in the Gezuwa general area of the state.
The operation was disclosed on Tuesday, in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information at the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the air strikes were carried out following credible Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance reports that identified insurgent activities within the area.
Air Commodore Ejodame stated that the coordinated precision strikes successfully destroyed key terrorist facilities and neutralised several fighters operating within the Sambisa axis.
“The coordinated attacks destroyed key terrorist facilities and neutralised several fighters, further crippling the operational capacity of the insurgents,” he stated.
Sustained Air operations in Sambisa
The Nigerian Air Force said ongoing aerial offensives have continued to weaken terrorist networks and create fear among insurgent groups operating within the region.
According to the statement, intelligence assessments showed increasing confusion and apprehension among terrorist elements as continuous bombardments disrupted their movement and denied them safe havens.
The Air Force noted that the operations form part of broader military efforts to dismantle insurgent infrastructure and restore stability across the North-East.
Collaboration with operation Hadin Kai
The NAF added that it remains committed to working alongside troops of Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies in sustaining pressure on terrorist groups.
“The NAF, in concert with troops of Operation Hadin Kai and other security agencies, remains resolute in maintaining relentless pressure on terrorist networks while reinforcing its commitment to protecting innocent lives and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East,” the statement added.
Sambisa Forest and surrounding areas in Borno State have remained key operational zones in Nigeria’s counter-insurgency campaign against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters.
Military authorities have intensified coordinated land and air offensives in recent months as part of efforts to disrupt insurgent logistics, mobility, and command structures across the North-East region.
