The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary ban on songs by Burna Boy following a reported altercation with DJ Tunez at a private event in Lagos.

The decision was disclosed in a statement shared on Tuesday via Instagram, directing DJs both in Nigeria and abroad to remove Burna Boy’s tracks from their playlists pending further investigation.

The move follows reports that Burna Boy and members of his crew were involved in a physical confrontation with DJ Tunez, whose real name is Michael Babatunde Adeyinka.

Eyewitness accounts circulating online claimed the incident occurred inside a nightclub, where a disagreement escalated into a scuffle involving multiple individuals, with DJ Tunez allegedly assaulted.

Association’s stance

In its statement, the Nigerian DJ Association expressed solidarity with DJ Tunez, emphasising the need to protect the rights and dignity of DJs.

“Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice,” the association stated, adding that it would conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

The group also reiterated its stance on equality and non-discrimination within the entertainment industry, urging members to remain professional and respectful at events.

Call for unity

The association called on DJs nationwide to uphold fairness and reject all forms of prejudice, stressing that unity is essential for the growth of the industry.

It added that all members deserve equal opportunity and dignity, regardless of background or status.

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official statement from Burna Boy or his management regarding the alleged incident.

The development has sparked conversations across social media, with fans and industry stakeholders weighing in on the controversy.
