The family of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is seeking urgent medical assistance after revealing that the actor is battling stage-four cancer.
Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made emotional appeals on social media, asking medical professionals, hospitals and individuals with possible treatment options to come forward and assist their father.
Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer had reached stage four and appealed for help from anyone who could provide treatment, including medical or traditional options.
In her emotional appeal, she said the family was not seeking financial donations but was looking for someone who could help provide treatment for their father.
The development came after the family said Ogogo’s condition had deteriorated and that the hospital treating him could no longer continue with chemotherapy.
Lima also appealed to medical professionals and cancer specialists capable of managing her father’s condition, saying the family had only become fully aware of the severity of his illness about three weeks earlier.
The actor reportedly has an Indian visa and the family had considered taking him abroad for specialised treatment. However, his current condition has reportedly left him medically unfit to fly.
The situation has prompted colleagues and fans in the entertainment industry to rally support for the veteran actor and call for urgent medical intervention.
However, a medical doctor, Olusina Ajidahun, has cautioned against interpreting the family’s account as meaning that hospitals have simply abandoned Ogogo. He explained that treatment decisions, particularly chemotherapy, can depend on a patient’s medical condition and whether further treatment is appropriate.
Meanwhile, the family has also debunked reports circulating on social media that Ogogo has died.
His daughter, Lima Taiwo, described the death report as false and urged members of the public to stop spreading the claim.
The family continues to seek urgent treatment options for the 66-year-old actor as his colleagues and well-wishers rally around him.
