Today, August 5, members of the Take It Back Movement have set aside for nationwide protests, pressing what they describe as urgent cardinal demands, including an end to hunger and the rising cost of living, improved security, accountable governance, the protection of democratic rights and better welfare for Nigerians.

But at the moment, protesters are dispersing from Maryland Bus Stop after police fired tear gas at the gathering. Organisers say they are regrouping and plan to continue the demonstration at another location, insisting their protest remains peaceful.
VOPTVS Correspondent Matthew Ogunsuada will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as the situation unfolds.
