Global music stars Shakira and Burna Boy have officially released “Dai Dai,” the anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The song was announced on Friday by football governing body FIFA and is now available on major streaming platforms.

According to FIFA, “Dai Dai” will serve as the official song for the 2026 World Cup and support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to provide children worldwide with access to quality education and football opportunities.

Shakira also confirmed the release on social media, writing, “Dai Dai is here. The FIFA World Cup 2026 starts now!”

Song details

The track combines Afrobeats and Latin pop influences with lyrics focused on resilience, unity, ambition and global football culture.

The song references legendary footballers and stars including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah.

Several football nations including Brazil, Argentina, Nigeria, England and France were also mentioned in the track.

FIFA stated that royalties from the song would support the education fund, while Sony Music would match the first $250,000 raised with an additional donation.

World Cup return

The release marks Shakira’s return to the FIFA World Cup stage after her previous tournament songs, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and La La La.

For Burna Boy, the collaboration marks another major global milestone for Nigerian music on the international football stage.

The development also means Nigeria now has multiple artistes featured in official FIFA World Cup music projects, following Davido’s appearance on the 2022 World Cup soundtrack.

FIFA opening ceremony plans

FIFA also announced that Rema will headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles on June 12.

Shakira is also expected to co-headline the tournament’s first-ever halftime show during the final on July 19.
